Dr. Torres / Plaza and Boerne

Scheduling instructions for Dr. Torres are as follows:

Ideally, appointments are structured in such a way that each hour contains one IV sedation, one consult and one post op. For special appointments, such as TMJ consults, Trauma, Pathology, H&P for hospital, Consult/do surgeries, there is additional time needed.

CONSULTS: Consults and post ops are to start at 8am. Typically dentoalveolar/thirds consults should be scheduled for 20 minutes. If a pano is needed, then 30 minutes. A recent, diagnostic quality, pano with patient name and date is required prior to appointment. If patient is older than 12 yo, the pano must be current within the last 12 months. If younger than 12 yo, the pano must be no older than 3 months. If not present, then we will need to take one upon patient’s arrival to the office. NO Consults on Friday unless its Same day surgery.

TMJ CONSULTS: 45 minutes; CBCT will ALWAYS be required ($395); may schedule up to 1 TMJ patient per WEEK for Dr. Torres ONLY (the remaining doctors schedules do not change)/ CBCT on disc from outside source (other than STRIC) may not be able to be opened by our software, and often need to be re-taken in the office. It’s best to inform patients that the CBCT is generally always required.

PATHOLOGY: 30 Minutes, minimum. Intraoral photos REQUIRED; often not covered by insurance ($90). Most pathology consults will turn into same day surgery. Allow enough time and provide IV sedation instructions for all patients.

TRAUMA: 1 hour, often need CBCT

IMPLANT: CBCT required

PEDO (Under 14 YO): MUST be scheduled before 12PM- NO EXCEPTIONS. The 7am slot may be used for PEDO in the event that there are no other openings available. The 7am slot is useable as overflow and as-needed only for PEDO patients who need early appointments. This slot should be treated as overflow for PEDO only, and not filled unless needed.

H&P or OR CASE: 50 minutes to 1 hour. These are the pre-op appointments for patients who will be treated in the hospital.

CONSULT/DO: These patients can be double booked with consult or local patients. The consults booked alongside a consult/do should be scheduled at the BEGINNING of the CONSULT/DO appointment, in order to manage time/case prep more effectively.

HOURLY SLOTS FOR OTHER EXTRACTIONS CONSULTS IN ADDITION TO 3RDS: Path/Trauma or other special consults needing 50 minutes (extensive med history, medical, transport required, etc.) can go in these slots on any day except Friday which is reserved for surgery unless otherwise approved by Dr. Torres or Brittanie. If vacant a day or 2 before, you can fill with a surgery if needed. 24 hours before, you can fill with extr/3rds consult 30 minutes if needed – alert Brittanie due to timely insurance verification if you do that.

POST OPS: Post ops can be scheduled one per hour. ANY PATIENT WHO HAS HAD SURGERY WITH DR. TORRES CAN ALWAYS BE SEEN FOR A PO. If there is no slot, then contact PCC to get the patient worked in as soon as possible. Can be scheduled on Friday.

DO NOT schedule BOTH a 7am and 3pm surgery on the same day- it causes the work day to run too long.  If there is a NEED to book both slots on the same day, check with Dr. Torres first.
